Law Enforcement Agency Training
Boarding for K9
-Safe and secure boarding for contracted agencies.
Maintenance training for the K9 team
-Once a month 10 hour training for the team. This includes: problem solving, knowledge refresher, and teaching new tasks to the k9 team. Maintenance training also includes additional training as needed by the K9 team or for the individual handler/K9.
Patrol Basic class
-200 hours over 5 weeks, which teaches obedience, search work, and handler protection work modeled after POST guideline. At the end of the class all teams will be certified by a POST certified evaluator. If the agency purchases the dog from Blue Line K9 LLC the agency will receive $300 off of the price of the basic patrol class.
Narcotics Detection Basic Class
-200 hours over 5 weeks, which teaches searching and indicating illegal contraband with up to 5 different odors (marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, opium, etc.). Agencies are required to provide the training aids to the handler, and decide which odors the dog is supposed to detect. This class also provides legal updates and veterinary updates.
Explosive Detection Basic Class
-320 hours over 8 weeks, which teaches searching and indicating explosives up to 15 odors. Agencies are required to provide the training aids to the handler and decide which odors the dog supposed to detect. This class also provides veterinary updates. During maintenance training for explosive detection teams, an additional 15 odors can be taught to the dog.
-Two day,16 hours course, which teaches an individual safe and effective ways to provide helper work for the K9 teams as outlined by POST.
Advanced Handler Class
-24 hour, 3 day class for handlers who are actively working on the street. This includes a legal update, veterinary update, training and problem solving update and certification if needed.
-24 hour, 3 day class for teams, who have already finished a patrol basic class. This training teaches how to improve the dogs’ ability to be more effective at ground tracking work. In three days the dogs are introduced to various tracking terrains from soft surface to hard surface, making them more effective in an urban environment.
